About us
Cabban & Co make quality, sustainable and affordable fabric gift wrap & ribbon that you will be proud to reuse time and time again.
We make fabric gift wrapping with a design difference; it’s based on the Japanese Furoshiki, but with added detachable ribbons. This fabric alternative to wrapping paper is Reusable, Eco-friendly and Beautiful; the ultimate in zero-waste gift wrap.
Why fabric wrapping?
I, Fiona Austin founded the company in March 2021 after another Christmas using miles of wrapping paper and the usual 2 bin bags full of waste wrapping materials (sticky tape, metallic paper & plastic ribbon). I thought there must be a better way of gifting with less waste. We recycle as much as we possibly can, try to reduce our carbon footprint in every area and I wanted to wrap my family’s presents in sustainable and affordable fabric.
But how do you wrap presents in fabric? Wrapping gifts without wrapping paper and sticky tape? I started by looking to Japan and how they use Furoshiki (square fabric wrapping cloths), but I didn’t feel confident in my tying and knotting skills. It’s not intuitive for us in the West. I considered using fabric bags, but I didn’t like the floppiness and spare fabric around the gift. I wanted my presents tightly wrapped and I wanted them to look as beautiful as they did when I used paper wrapping and ribbons.
After much trial and error, I created a unique* design that was simple and intuitive to use.
The unique design
The combination of ideally sized pieces of hemmed fabrics, neat mitred corners, and button holes that the buttoned ribbon can slip into provides more flexibility than Furoshiki when wrapping different sizes and shapes of gift as you don’t have to reserve fabric for tying the knot.

How to ask for your wrapping back
One of the first questions people ask when they hear about fabric gift wrap is “How can I get the fabric gift wrap back?”. You’ve invested in the wrapping and you want to reuse it, but it’s awkward to ask for it back isn’t it? Until people learn more about the Japanese Furoshiki etiquette of returning the fabric wrapping, we need to let people know without saying it ourselves. Our solution is a smart looking cloth tag attached to the outside of the gift (just like a gift tag) that explains this etiquette to the receiver of your wrapping and asks them to return it to you.
Our guarantee to you
Our aim is to provide an affordable, easy to use, high quality and reusable alternative to wrapping paper.
All our products are ethically sourced and carefully hand made in the UK. We use UK fabric and thread suppliers and the high quality ribbon is made in the North of England by Berisfords Ribbons.
These are things you can use forever. Enjoy!
